[ the fight isn't harsh. it's back to more of what david did before, when he was pissed off because of evan (again); he's not happy about this, but he'll take it. he'll deal with it. evan feels the tension shift under his hands and tightens his grip for a second, as if confirming that for himself.
but this is still different, evan knows; there's a difference between fighting someone down and this. the thought occurs to him again, very briefly, that maybe he's crossing a line. at the same time he's certain that david would have already lodged a knee in his throat or fought them both off the bed if he was really, violently, on every level opposed. or would still be yelling, snarling, biting at the air.
and one more time, he doesn't think about why he's thinking this. why he might even consider it.
he leans forward against david, pushing his legs up, letting the angle shift as he keeps the careful but hard pace. waiting for that moment when things tip over into wanting instead of waiting. or just hating. ]
