he hears more than he sees david staggering away. still on his feet, at least. something's gnawing at evan, at his brain and what's left of what might be his soul: that david jumped into that fight without a second thought, just because he could.
was it to help him? or to take revenge on something that's probably incredibly hard to get revenge on? either way, he could have walked off. evan would have dealt with it (probably), but he'd be in worse shape by now (probably).
