[ it's a test to see how far he's pushing his luck. if david's here for a reason, or a reason. so far he hasn't left, or swung for the jaw or throat. evan considers his options. it's ... uncertain, how far he can take this.
not that he hasn't essentially fought survivors into submitting before, though they all knew they were going to lose from the start. (it's a way of balancing the scales, he always figured.) but david's never fought him except to kill. and he has fought him, to both of their deaths. do the streams cross for him?
only one way to find out.
his answer comes in the form of closing in, glowering down at the arrogant angle of the jaw, the threat in david's eyes. he reaches up and pulls off his mask, tossing it - sort of carefully - onto one of the other worktables. there's a second where he pauses.
then he grabs david by the throat and jerks him in, not quite a kiss, not quite anything yet. close enough that the heat's obvious and intense off his skin, that the gleam of rage and a little something else is visible in his own eyes. ]
