[ he uses the pull on his shirt for momentum to shove evan again, to step right into his space and glower up at him with a sneer curling his lip. he almost laughs at the logic evan uses, not at all surprised by it, but it still only makes david more pissed off to hear the words come out of his mouth. ]
I die, I die, it happens. Shit, half your lot go above and fucking beyond to make sure it happens. [ which is a point of pride at this point, knowing some killers find him to be such a pain in the ass that they will practically sabotage themselves just to be rid of him. maybe he shouldn't feel proud of it, but it sure helps offset the existential dread of knowing he's one of the ones first in line for the void. ]
Doesn't mean I'm serving myself up because you patched up my arm.
[ the biggest problem is that he know david's right. expecting survivors to hand themselves over to death just as repayment is - stupid. he's rarely done it in the past. and owing - he's losing his touch, isn't he?
before he'd never have helped a survivor at all, nevermind expected them to die on a hook as repayment. he's getting soft. losing his edge. with all the other killers here he has enough of a problem being more dangerous, more terrifying - and now he's doing this shit?
not that he'll let any of this show, ever. especially to david. he just pulls him up instead, forcing him onto his toes as he takes one step back to anchor himself against any more shoves. ]
You came all the way out here to complain about that?
[ as if it doesn't matter. as if david's the one with the problem, here. ]
[ david resists the pull as much as he can, refusing to go all the way up onto his toes even as it makes him rock forward on his feet a little unsteadily. even if it means his shirt ends up torn or some shit, he'd rather that than letting evan get more of an upper hand than the ones he already has, just being what he is. ]
Came out here to find out what the fuck was going through your mind, you thought I'd agree to that.
[ it probably stinks of pride, and sure there's a bit of that, but there's more to it. even if it wasn't a ridiculously uneven exchange, david would be fucking over everyone else in a trial just to pay back someone who kills them every other fucking day. that's insane. ]
[ david doesn't shove him again, even though he wants to. wants to punch him in the fucking face too, but that's not even possible right now. fists clenched tight at his sides, practically snarling when he speaks because he's so pissed off with no immediate outlet for it. ]
I don't bring that shit into trials, and I'm not keen to ferry myself off to the dump that little bit faster for the likes of you either.
[ there's ways to deflect this, but he's pissed off, too. maybe not as furious as david, but furious enough that the truth is about as much a worthwhile answer as throwing david into the furnace. ]
Through my mind? Not gettin' turned into ground beef like you always do.
[ no. he shouldn't bring that shit into a trial, like david said. he doesn't normally. doesn't give any leeway to the people who show up at his door, and they in turn don't take it easy on him. it was just the pressure of this place. he hasn't been winning lately. hasn't been doing what he should be.
losing his edge. the idea's more infuriating than having to take this shit from david. ]
Fine. Next time, try harder. Don't let me get what I'm askin' for. [ it's a snarl, and he almost throws david back into the workshop -
and steps in after him, dragging the door shut behind him. can't lock it, because there's no lock. but it's shut nonetheless. ]
[ david moves backward into the workshop, doesn't really have much choice, though the door being pulled shut filters through the rage enough to confuse him, as does the question. makes him pause as if he has to take a second just to understand what the fuck evan just said to him. ]
[ it'd be easy enough to say no, he did die after all. say nah, he's paid up, but something about that doesn't sit right with him. ]
[ most of him was expecting david to blow him off, or just throw a punch. point out that he died, and so the debt was paid by evan's own standards. but not by david's standards. that's enough to keep him from saying anything.
he remembers the abrupt move from interest to rage. maybe the interest didn't die? he's not sure. but now david's in one piece - one infuriating, furious piece - so there's no consideration to take into account. no injuries. nothing but how much they hate each other and their strange little truce.
evan sets the cleaver, very deliberately on a hook on the wall, before closing in on david. not fast - slower, more intent, but no less angry in his own right. he doesn't expect to back him up. stops only when it's stop or run him over. ]
[ david watches carefully, eyes tracking the movement of evan hanging up the cleaver, of him coming closer. david doesn't move, gaze shifting to look up at his mask with a hard frown. ]
[ it'd be a lie to say this didn't do anything for him, but david's not about to make it that easy. tilts his head up, the jut of his jaw something defiant, almost. arrogant. daring. ]
[ it's a test to see how far he's pushing his luck. if david's here for a reason, or a reason. so far he hasn't left, or swung for the jaw or throat. evan considers his options. it's ... uncertain, how far he can take this.
not that he hasn't essentially fought survivors into submitting before, though they all knew they were going to lose from the start. (it's a way of balancing the scales, he always figured.) but david's never fought him except to kill. and he has fought him, to both of their deaths. do the streams cross for him?
only one way to find out.
his answer comes in the form of closing in, glowering down at the arrogant angle of the jaw, the threat in david's eyes. he reaches up and pulls off his mask, tossing it - sort of carefully - onto one of the other worktables. there's a second where he pauses.
then he grabs david by the throat and jerks him in, not quite a kiss, not quite anything yet. close enough that the heat's obvious and intense off his skin, that the gleam of rage and a little something else is visible in his own eyes. ]
[ waiting feels like forever, waiting for evan to decide what he wants to do here. david catches that pause and wonders once again if he hasn't got something mixed up here, but there's no way. if evan just wanted to kill him he wouldn't have bothered closing the door, wouldn't bother with all this. ]
[ the discarded mask and hand around his throat stops the wondering pretty quickly, the way evan jerks him forward-- closer. david's hands come up to his wrist immediately, grip tight, but he doesn't try to pull it away, even with the way he growls, reflecting that rage in evan's eyes right back at him. ]
Haven't written off you tryin' to stuff me in the furnace yet.
[ despite the rage, despite the uncertain hunger, despite everything - david's comment makes evan laugh. just that one short snort, more a huff of breath, but it's clear in the way he looks away just a little that david got him with that one. ]
Not 'til you really piss me off.
[ which killing him, apparently, isn't quite up to. no, he saves the furnace for very particular people, and very few of them at that. mostly it's just a pain in the ass to clean the remains out so the whole thing works properly again. it's hard to get good heat when the bone fragments are throwing the temperature off.
but until the day david crosses that line - unlikely, in his opinion, even for david - that won't matter. he tightens his grip around david's throat, then pushes him back - not with his grip, but with his whole body, back toward the nearest open worktable until they hit it. ]
Comin' here was a bad decision.
[ although he says it without as much violent intent as he normally would. ]
[ he has no choice but to move with the push, all the way until he hits the worktable, his own grip on evan's arm tightening in response to the grip around his throat. ]
[ he doesn't mention the ways he's thought of to really get under evan's skin, he hasn't pissed david off enough either, though he doesn't doubt it's possible. more he'd rather not dwell on the possibility of making some truly terrible decisions. ill-advised, like this, right now, is plenty. can't help the little scoff that slips out of him at evan's little comment, though david does note the way there's less intent than he's used to. ]
You gonna talk my ear off about it?
[ david presses his thumbs against evan's inner wrist, trying to firce him to let up. ]
I'm here now anyway, ain't I. Never let a bad decision stop me before.
[ no, evan thinks, you haven't. it's backfired before, and who knows? it might backfire now. but.
he can feel the pressure on his wrist, making him whole arm hurt. too much more and he'll have to drop david. give him leeway. leeway he had before and didn't take. the broken traps are an offense, but the workshop wasn't destroyed, not even a little. david had been there long enough to do some damage. and he didn't.
evan pauses a few seconds longer, considering. then he stops thinking too hard.
the kiss is more violence than anything else, but it's the same sort of thing david's met him with before. he lets him drop a little without letting go of his throat, gets his other hand balled up in the front of david's shirt and keeps him in even if he has to let go of his throat. he's got him crowded against the workbench, at least for now. there's still room to maneuver - at least, for him. ]
[ david makes another low, growling noise, but he kisses evan back, angry and messy. par for the course between the two of them really, the way david bites at his lips, kisses him like he wants to taste blood. definitely at least a little intentional too, when he lets go of evan's wrist with one hand to tug at his waders, that he pulls on the side twisted up in his fucked up shoulder. ]
[ it's kind of weird. he's been on the other side of this sort of thing, sure, (something that is frustratingly starting to become a recurring theme with evan,) but david's instincts aren't great here. the idea of fighting not to win, but just to make this difficult for evan, make him work for it. get him properly riled up. it's a bit hard to wrap his head around. ]
[ but he's plenty practiced in being a pain in the ass at this point. he doubles down on his effort to make evan let go of his throat, enough to forcibly pull back from that kiss-
- and throw his head forward in a headbutt. the sexiest of all moves, of course. ]
S'not all you got, is it? [ he huffs out a breath, looks up at evan with exactly the kind of smirk he knows he hates. ] Never woulda let you fuck me if I'd known you were such a soft touch.
[ the pull on his waders makes him snarl into the half-fight, half-kiss, and his grip buries tighter into david's shirt. when david breaks it off, he watches him, teeth bared -
and then their skulls connect and for a second he's blindsided. doesn't let go of david completely, but only takes one step back to keep himself in place.
through the surprise of it david's words cut bright and clear, like glass or flying metal. soft touch. it reminds him of his own thoughts: getting soft. if even the survivors can see it, if even he can't get a handle on himself enough to let his rage carry him like he has for his entire fucking life, then what the fuck is he even doing?
for a second the real rage is back on his face - just a flicker of it, enough that david'll know he hit something but not long enough to suggest this is about to go bad again. then he lets go and winds back his right hand, aiming a fist for david's skull.
except it's a feint, his left hand curling into a fist to aim straight for david's gut. the intent is one hit, hard enough to wind him, knock him senseless for just long enough for evan to turn him around and slam him facefirst over the worktable. ]
[ that little flash of rage on evan's face puts a smile on david's — a brief, wicked little thing, knowing little what a deep cut that was. half expects the punch for it, and the headbutt, easily dipping to the side to avoid it. too easily. but even if he'd realised it was a feint that fraction of a moment sooner, there's nowhere for david to move for that kind of thing. all he can do is absorb the blow as best he can. ]
[ enough he doesn't throw up on the spot maybe, but it still winds him. leaves him unable to do much except curse when he's suddenly spun, body bent over the table with a wheeze at the impact. ]
[ david doesn't just lay there and accept it though. he snarls, bucks like a trapped animal, throws his elbows back to try and hit evan. doing everything in his power to be as difficult about this as possible. ]
[ he's got one hand on david's back, close to his neck but not on it yet, pushing him down and holding him as best he can. the fighting is about what he expected and he weathers the elbows, snarling as they hit burned-in metal, old wounds, new wounds, shrapnel. it's hard to keep him down, even crushing his hips against the table like he is.
evan knows there's only so much he can do to keep a fighting body down, even with his strength. he leans forward a little more, dodging what's almost another crack to the skull, and gets his hand on david's neck fully. pushes down hard to try and make it impossible to buck, or at least too painful to manage, grinding his face down into the aging wood underneath. his other hand smacks away an elbow - a punch directly to the back of it, unintentional but hopefully painful - and then grabs the back of david's pants, jerks, yanks to get them off. no working at the belt or zipper unless it's absolutely necessary.
abrupt, sure. but that's always what he's gone for. no reason to wait. besides, he just took a hit to the skull from someone who's busted up his traps, who trespassed without an invitation, who lives to make his life a misery, or at least be a constant pain in his ass. who called him a soft touch. as if he doesn't already know how bad things can be here.
[ the hand on his neck, face pressed into the table so all he can smell is the wood and the metal and grease it's been party too for however long, the hit to his elbow that gets a noise somewhere between surprise and pain out of him. pinned between his neck and his hips, david seethes, has to actively take a breath and remind himself this is what he wants to bring the anger back from a boil to a simmer. ]
[ he plants his hands on the table, tries to push up against evan's hand, but even if he wasn't here fresh off a death david's not entirely sure he could manage it. tries again for good measure, but the effort doesn't really seem worth it. half considers kicking back, trying to get one of evan's knees, but having his pants ripped down so suddenly genuinely shocks him into stillness for a second. it shouldn't really be a surprise, all things considered, but it is. ]
--Well, look who woke up.
[ it comes out muffled on account of how he's halfway to becoming one with the workbench, but that half-teasing, half-mocking tone is still there. as if he's not the one pinned over a bench with his ass out right now. ]
[ it pisses evan off further, hearing that, but he keeps a rein on his anger for the moment. maybe david was just goading him into it, and maybe he was up for being goaded. he can still remember how furious david was the last time, to the point where it tipped things in the opposite direction - as if evan himself didn't help that along - and wonders how much of that is close at hand.
doesn't matter. david's not fighting seriously now. the tension, the struggle - they're all there, but it's not frantic. evan's been a bastard long enough to know the difference.
he just snorts in response to the comment and uses his free hand to squeeze david's ass - no, he didn't forget that from last time - and then press up against him, even clothed as he is. it's not as if they'll do much to hide what's underneath.
he leans over david and plants his hand next to his head. ]
You want me to teach you a lesson, all you gotta do's ask.
[ instead of fucking around and goading him into it - though he's capable of recognizing why someone might not just ask. ]
[ it's always right on the precipice, that anger that can't be channelled into anything except violence, just barely kept at bay, especially here, because it's so much easier to let it consume him with evan than with other people. even now it feels like there's a million things pissing him off; being pinned over this workbench, evan's weight pressing against him, the fact that he's already half hard and all it really took was being tossed around a little to get him there. the unintentional low noise that rumbles low and quiet in response to the way evan squeezes his ass. all of it, little things chipping at the dam that keeps his temper from spilling over. ]
[ it's what makes david try to shake evan off, as if he could, part of his brain screaming disappointment at him for submitting like this when he should be trying to kill this guy for that bullshit in the trial. ]
I told you-- [ he turns his head and lets out a heavy breath, cranes his neck as much as the grip on it will allow. ] You wanna be a cunt about this, wanna throw your weight around, you're gonna have to make me.
[ it's something he's familiar with doing, at least. not that hearing it from david does much to mollify the permanent fury over - well, everything.
but it does do something. he presses harder against david, making sure the edge of the table digs in hard against his hips and waist. a pain that'll stick around through all of this, but not one that's going to distract. at least not long enough. and it's a reminder that there's nowhere to go. not forward and not back. ]
All right.
[ it's a lot more controlled than he thought it would be. he moves his grip a little further up david's neck to his head, but lets him keep it turned. ]
You want spit or nothin'?
[ evan's expression is as close to blank as the anger will allow, if david can see it. he wants to play this kind of game? he'll get it. ]
[ david grimaces at the way his hips dig into the table, hisses and instinctively pushes back against evan to get away from it. he'll have to fight his way out of this if he wants to move, and that feels to david like it'd turn things from a harsh fuck to an actual fight. not that he'd necessarily complain about that either, but he's already got his pants down here. ]
You try fuckin' me with nothing and this place is gonna be covered in both our blood.
[ it's as certain as any threat he's gotten from evan, a guarantee that he'll regret it if he even tries. a reminder too, that david's letting this happen. just because it'd be difficult doesn't mean he couldn't get out of this. and they've both been clear enough with eachother that they're willing enough to die to take the other out with them. ]
[ the tension doesn't spike exactly, but he's pretty certain david's not joking about that, even slightly. evan guessed something like that would be the response. he grips david's head a little tighter for a second. ]
Then don't bite.
[ he moves his other hand from the table to david's mouth and doesn't give him time to get ready before aiming to get two fingers inside. he's rough - rougher than before, because of the nature of all this. not going to break anything but not going to give david any leeway, either, and he's not going to let him move his head to try and adjust.
he does take a little more time than he might otherwise, though. maybe not ideal for david in the moment, but it'll benefit him later, evan figures. the last few times weren't exactly gentle but they were nowhere near as rough as he can get. and right now, he's not planning on anything but rough. ]
[ the annoyance is obvious in the set of david's jaw, the brief flare of his nostrils, the way he glares, but in the interest of not having his ass torn open he takes the fingers into his mouth — not that he has much of a say with the way evan shoves them in. part of him wants nothing more than bite down hard, grind his teeth into evan's knuckle, but that wouldn't do anything for anyone except be the reason he's in a world of agony. ]
[ he does his best to be thorough, to make sure those fingers don't leave his mouth until they're drenched. if he were less angry he might note that evan isn't rushing this, but right now all his focus is on the hand on his head and the fingers in his mouth and the way he feels like he could vibrate out of his skin with how badly he wants to lash out. ]
[ but he doesn't. and it pisses him off, but this isn't exactly the part of things to be fucking around with. ]
[ under his hand he can feel david ready to kill at the first sign of weakness. even one second will be enough. he's not biting, but that's not a sign that he's calm. just that he knows what'll happen if he does.
he's at least working with him, so evan gives him the time. gets ready enough. this is still going to be a problem, at least for david. when he decides he's done he pulls his hand back sharply and doesn't hesitate at all to get his hand down to david's ass and work them in. and he's not particularly gentle about it, either.
but not dangerous. not truly violent, just rough even as he's being thorough. he keeps david's head pinned down, having moved back a fraction of space to get his hand where it needed to be, so even if there's more leeway the only way david can go is back - onto his hand.
he watches david's expression. feels the rage more than he sees it. waits to see any flicker of change, or if the anger will carry him through this. it'll do that for both of them, honestly, but evan's not the one pinned to a table. ]
[ david grunts with that initial discomfort, closes his eyes and takes a breath just to try and ease it a little bit. try and relax the way his whole body feels coiled and tense, like he's ready to spring up at the first opportunity. it doesn't really do much but it's enough, he supposes, that evan doesn't have to fight him just to do this. ]
[ he plants his hands on the table, just for a second, wanting to move but not having any way to that would help. ends up rocking back a little onto evan's hand after some time, makes a quiet noise like one might after nicking a finger on something sharp, but it gives him a little space. takes the pressure off his hips where they've been pressed against the edge of the table. ]
[ it gives him just enough room too that he can move a hand down to wrap around his cock. the angle isn't great for it, can't move his hand much once it's down there, but he doesn't need all that. just enough that he can stroke himself to take the edge off, distract himself from any pain or discomfort while evan does what he has to. ]

[ he uses the pull on his shirt for momentum to shove evan again, to step right into his space and glower up at him with a sneer curling his lip. he almost laughs at the logic evan uses, not at all surprised by it, but it still only makes david more pissed off to hear the words come out of his mouth. ]

[ david doesn't just lay there and accept it though. he snarls, bucks like a trapped animal, throws his elbows back to try and hit evan. doing everything in his power to be as difficult about this as possible. ]

evan knows there's only so much he can do to keep a fighting body down, even with his strength. he leans forward a little more, dodging what's almost another crack to the skull, and gets his hand on david's neck fully. pushes down hard to try and make it impossible to buck, or at least too painful to manage, grinding his face down into the aging wood underneath. his other hand smacks away an elbow - a punch directly to the back of it, unintentional but hopefully painful - and then grabs the back of david's pants, jerks, yanks to get them off. no working at the belt or zipper unless it's absolutely necessary.
abrupt, sure. but that's always what he's gone for. no reason to wait. besides, he just took a hit to the skull from someone who's busted up his traps, who trespassed without an invitation, who lives to make his life a misery, or at least be a constant pain in his ass. who called him a soft touch. as if he doesn't already know how bad things can be here.
evan's not about to wait for that.

doesn't matter. david's not fighting seriously now. the tension, the struggle - they're all there, but it's not frantic. evan's been a bastard long enough to know the difference.
he just snorts in response to the comment and uses his free hand to squeeze david's ass - no, he didn't forget that from last time - and then press up against him, even clothed as he is. it's not as if they'll do much to hide what's underneath.
he leans over david and plants his hand next to his head. ]
You want me to teach you a lesson, all you gotta do's ask.
[ instead of fucking around and goading him into it - though he's capable of recognizing why someone might not just ask.

] You wanna be a cunt about this, wanna throw your weight around, you're gonna have to make me.

but it does do something. he presses harder against david, making sure the edge of the table digs in hard against his hips and waist. a pain that'll stick around through all of this, but not one that's going to distract. at least not long enough. and it's a reminder that there's nowhere to go. not forward and not back. ]

[ but ideally it won't come to that.

he's at least working with him, so evan gives him the time. gets ready enough. this is still going to be a problem, at least for david. when he decides he's done he pulls his hand back sharply and doesn't hesitate at all to get his hand down to david's ass and work them in. and he's not particularly gentle about it, either.
but not dangerous. not truly violent, just rough even as he's being thorough. he keeps david's head pinned down, having moved back a fraction of space to get his hand where it needed to be, so even if there's more leeway the only way david can go is back - onto his hand.
he watches david's expression. feels the rage more than he sees it. waits to see any flicker of change, or if the anger will carry him through this. it'll do that for both of them, honestly, but evan's not the one pinned to a table.
