until david has no other choice than to let up, he stays where he is, not willing to risk another crush, especially if there's still a risk it could hit his neck. the shrapnel and hooks can only do so much to protect him even from that. evan watches david, watches the fury, waits for it to break, just a little. ]

he manages to wheeze out a breath as his caught arm on one side and his ribs on the other creak with the force of it. it's angry, but there's a laugh to it, too. ]

[ david's avoided any edged shrapnel. deliberately or by chance? doesn't matter. evan digs his fingers in deeper, knowing he can probably end this without letting go. trying to find a way to distract david in turn before he starts doing damage - real damage - to evan's not-exactly-insignificant torso. ]

[ of course he'd considered some potential damage as a consequence, but when evan digs his fingers in it's a hell of a shock to the system. david's breath catches and his hips jerk, but he doesn't let up. ]

[ he tries to ignore the way his body wants to sag after that spike, holds out for a good few moments to try and make evan give first, but david can't help how his body sinks. ]

he works his fingers in a little deeper, trying to get him to let go not out of a return agony but because he can't focus. in truth part of evan wants to fight him to make him stop, but it won't work, here and now. this isn't a fistfight. isn't a brawl. beating him into submission would be more satisfying but it'd end this. maybe another day. maybe when he's a little less driven to get the rope involved.
until david has no other choice than to let up, he stays where he is, not willing to risk another crush, especially if there's still a risk it could hit his neck. the shrapnel and hooks can only do so much to protect him even from that. evan watches david, watches the fury, waits for it to break, just a little. ]

[ he's staring daggers up at evan, lips pulled back in both effort and anger, but eventually the sensation of evan's fingers is too much for him to push past and his grip gives. legs going lax as his head falls back with a curse that's equal parts a moan and frustration at this whole fucking situation. extra pissed because it feels good and that's so unfair he wants to start a new fight all over again. ]
[ despite everything though, david pulls his free leg to kick at evan for emphasis, aiming at his chest. it's not as hard as he wants, but at this point it's more like throwing a tantrum than it is any actual attempt to fight and really he feels he's entitled to at least that much. ]

it disappears anyway when david kicks him. that one he doesn't manage to stop, but it's not a hard kick. enough to irritate but not enough to infuriate. it avoided any of the bad wounds, after all.
he knocks david's leg aside and works him a little more, intending to try and stop any other attempts to get some kind of petty revenge before pulling his hand away to slick up his fingers again - this time to use on himself. the rope's enough of a problem, he figures. ]

[ david looks up at him when he speaks, thinks he clocks a hint of a smirk in the shadows on evan's face, and the look he gives in return speaks volumes. like he'd leap up and go for his throat right this second if david could only figure out how to do it fast enough from this position. ]

he lets himself go, recaps the container and drops it next to the bed, and finally has both hands free. he's certain david's liable to try another kick, so he's more cautious getting a grip on his legs just at the knee to angle them up while staying between them. one to the chest hurts; one to the face would be a problem.
as a result, he doesn't waste much time getting things started. half hard from his own actions and more than a little bit from david's violence (don't let him think about it), he presses in, tries to make sure david doesn't lash out again, doesn't stop until he's pressed against him and can let his legs go, even if they try to break his ribs again.
he doesn't respond to the threat or make any comments this time. no point. no need. it'd just be a distraction. ]

[ the grip on his leg doesn't stop david from trying to kick, even if it ultimately doesn't go anywhere, hands curling into fists under his back as he tries to contain himself and doesn't end up cutting himself open on some piece of shrapnel in a blind rage that doesn't go anywhere. if only because he's petty enough to recognise that would probably only make this better for evan. ]
[ he also halfway contemplates just laying there and waiting him out-- god, he bets it would infuriate evan, to get almost nothing from david after all this? truthfully he doesn't know that he has the energy to restrain himself like that, but the idea helps david manage the discomfort as evan presses into him with little more than a soft grunt and a slight curl of his lip. ]
